Who are we?

Lembeu Safari, a journey that bears fruit

Lembeu, in Maasai, means “Who bears fruit”

My first experience in Tanzania dates back to 2014, when, during a six-month humanitarian assignment, I learned Swahili and started a microcredit program with street youth in Arusha. Seeing the enormous impact that a small amount of financing and careful monitoring of a microenterprise's finances can have allowed me to realize that my purpose in life is to empower those who are willing to give their all to get ahead. During that trip, while drinking fresh goat blood at a Maasai festival, a Maasai man gave me this name, which has stuck ever since. I also wrote a book about that first trip to Tanzania: At the Crossroads of Cultures, available on Amazon.

hiLyte, enabling access to energy for all

A few years later, looking for an entrepreneurial project that would allow me to experience adventure, I returned to Tanzania in 2017 to talk with people in the villages and understand their needs. It turned out that they needed electricity, and with some friends, we founded hiLyte, a company whose goal was to provide everyone with access to basic electricity without any investment or long-term commitment. It was for hiLyte that I came to live in Tanzania for five years. During this time, many friends and family came to visit me, and of course everyone wanted to take the opportunity to see the animals and/or climb Kilimanjaro. So I spent a lot of time searching for trustworthy people to organize this without resorting to overpriced agencies or scammers with more than questionable cars. During this experiment, I had a few unpleasant surprises before finding the people I wanted to work with, and after many tests, I now have the best team in Tanzania to take my friends on safari, in the mountains, or on the islands. Guides and accountants for safari companies for decades, Castor and Farijiana have grown their business by word of mouth, and I work with them with complete confidence.

It's up to us to share with you all the great tips that made us fall in love with Tanzania!

Back in Switzerland with my Tanzanian wife Rehema, we absolutely had to find an activity in Tanzania that would allow us to help her family, her village, the various NGOs we are close to, and meet the needs of all our friends who asked us. We returned to Tanzania in July 2025, and after seeing our friends again, going on safari, and going to the beach in Zanzibar, each of our Tanzanian friends can bring knowledge, joy, and help you discover Tanzania from the inside. So we created Lembeu Safari, the trip that bears fruit, a company that aims to direct Europeans who want to visit Tanzania to trustworthy people who will give their all for your vacation, who will offer you unusual experiences, more local than those offered by traditional safari agencies, and entirely human. This is how our trips will bear fruit for you! We really want you to enjoy Tanzania as much as we did! Karibuni sana Tanzania
